How nomination works

How this check works

Read the rules for yourself.

Every requirement here is published on the credential pages and in the TPBOK™ Guide.

Is this an official eligibility decision?

No. It is a guide built from the published prerequisites. Your application is what decides.

What counts as years in technical roles?

Employed or self-employed engineering work: jobs and internships, freelance and consulting, sustained open-source maintaining, research and academic software, and military or government technical service. Studying on its own does not count.

What counts as leading technical work?

A lead or manager role, leading a feature, module or release without the title, leading client or open-source work, and regular mentoring, supervising or code review for other engineers. University and personal projects do not count towards leadership, but they do count as hands-on work for the specialist credentials.

Why only two at a time?

Each exam needs real preparation alongside your job. Two at a time keeps that manageable, and everything else waits on your route in order. You do not have to take the credentials in order, only meet each one’s prerequisites.

What if I am just short of a rule?

You can ask for an equivalency review. Use the “Close, but not there yet?” link on your route and include what you have done.

How are the dates worked out?

From the gap between your answers and each rule, assuming you keep building experience from today. They are estimates, not deadlines. Specialist years come from each credential’s target range, and the exact bar is set in its prerequisites.
